About Alappuzha Beach
Alappuzha or Alleppey is the land of shimmering backwaters, historic
monuments, sandy beaches and plenty other amazing tourist attractions. The
beach at Alappuzha boasts of velvety sands, towering palms, charming blue
waters and a salubrious climate that draw umpteen visitors to this
dreamland. The months of July and August host the famous Nehru trophy boat
race where teams from around the state gather and compete for the coveted

Location of Alappuzha Beach
Alappuzha beach is located in the Alleppey district of Kerala, bordered by
Arabian Sea on the west and Punnamada backwaters on the east. The capital of
Kerala, Trivandrum is situated just 147 km from Alappuzha beach.

The beach at Alappuzha as also the surrounding areas are replete with a
number of charming tourist attractions. The miles long stretch of the beach
consists of golden sands which are perfect to just lay on or stroll about
while watching the games of the sea. For the adventure lovers, there are

140 years old pier built in 1862 by captain Hugh Crawford. The old
lighthouse located at the beach was used to guide vessels coming towards the

the beach from where taxis and other local means of transport are easily
available to reach the beach.
By Road : State transport buses provide regular services
between Alappuzha and other major neighbouring cities including Thrissur,
Kollam, Ernakulam and Trivandrum.
