About Kappad Beach
Situated 16 km from Kozhikode in the south Indian state of Kerala, the picture perfect Kappad beach was discovered by the great Portuguese explorer Vasco Da Gama when he landed here during the 15th century. Studded with beautiful rock formations on all its sides, the landscape of the beach consists of numerous coconut groves and miles long stretches of silvery sands wetted by frothy surf that gently rolls up and down the shores.

The beach is situated away from the hustle and bustle of the city making it an ideal place for a relaxing vacation. All the visitors get to see is picture perfect beauty and the sight of a few fishermen going out into the sea along with their fishing nets. The 800 year old temple that lies on the edges of the rocks is another major attraction. A pillar nearby has inscriptions which states that Vasco Da Gama landed at the place in 1498.
