Jodhpur
The city of Jodhpur in Rajasthan was at one time a major trade centre of
the 16th century AD. The second-largest city in the state of Rajasthan,
Jodhpur was established in 1459 by Rao Jodha, who claimed to be the
descendant of Rama, the hero of the Hindu epic Ramayana. The city has been

Merman Fort
The fort is one of the colossal forts of India perched on the Aravalli
Ranges. The 5-km long Meherangarh fort looks like an impregnable structure

accumulation of palanquins, miniature paintings, ancient musical

Umaid Bhawan Palace
Built in 20th century Umed Bhawan Palace is now been transmuted into a
hotel. The royal family of Jodhpur still lives in a part of the palace. The
fabulous looking Umaid Bhawan Palace was actually built with the purpose of
giving employment to the people of Jodhpur during a long drawn famine.
Palace also houses a well-maintained museum, exhibiting the belongings of
Maharaja and the royal family - weapons, antiques and fascinating clocks,

Jaswant Thada
The white marble cenotaphs of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II and three other
cenotaphs, which stands nearby holds the rare portraits of the rulers and
Maharajas of Jodhpur.
Marwar Festivals
The festival comes normally in the 2nd week of October during the full moon.
It is a festival devoted mainly to the music and dance of the Mar war
region. The celebration goes on for two days. The festival is full of music,
folk dances, colors and traditions. One can also enjoy the live performance
by the artists arriving from all over India.
Mandore
Mandore once the capital of Mar war is situated at a distance of 8km. from
Jodhpur. Its ravishing green lawns accompanied by rock terraces definitely
give it an anomalous appearance. Amidst the gardens are the cenotaphs of
Jodhpur kings. The Hall of Heroes contains 16 gigantic figures carved out of
a single rock wall. The glowing figures on horseback represent Hindu
deities.
Ossian
Ossian one of the oldest cities in Rajasthan stands at a distance of 65km
from Jodhpur The small oasis in the desert, Ossian, has fifteen exquisitely
carved Jain and Hindu temples of 11th century. The temples of Ossian are the

Sardar Samand Lake
Sardar Samand Lake lies at a distance of 60-kms southeast of Jodhpur. It is
