About Tiruchirapalli
Tiruchirapalli or Trichy is a holy city in the south Indian state of Tamil
Nadu, known for the beautiful Sri Ranganathaswamy temple, situated on Sri
Rangam island. The entire state of Tamil Nadu, in fact the whole of south
India is known for its artistically constructed temples, but none better
perhaps than those found here in the revered city of Tiruchirapalli. The
Jambukeshwara temple is another such structure which is visited by numerous
devotees throughout the year. Other attractions around the city include the
opulent Rock Fort and Thiruvanaikkaval.
Climate & Best time to Visit
The climate in Tiruchirapalli is warm and humid almost throughout the year.
Summers (March to June) can be extremely hot while winters (November to
February) are pleasant. The best time to visit the place is from November to
March. Cotton clothes are recommended throughout the year.
Religious Attractions in Tiruchirapalli
Rock Fort Temple
Situated 272 ft above the city are the ruins of the ancient rock fort. The
rocky outcrop on which it is built is believed to be one of the oldest in
the world. The major highlight of the area is however the temple dedicated
to Lord Vinayaka. A series of 437 steps cut into rock lead to the temple,
which is a beautiful description of Hindu temple architecture.
Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple
The beautiful Sri Ranganathaswamy temple is situated on the Sri Rangam
Island in the middle of Cauvery river. The huge temple was built between the
13th and 18th century by a number of dynasties including the Cholas,
Pandyas, Vijayanagar rulers, Cheras and Hoysalas.
Sri Jambukeshwara Temple
Built during the 16th century, the temple is situated at a short distance
from the Ranganathaswamy temple and is adorned with beautiful interiors and
a massive central courtyard. The temple and its ramparts, murals, idols and
carved brackets are an excellent example of the Dravidian style of
architecture.
Thiruvanaikkaval
Named after the elephant Thiruvanaikkaval, who was an ardent devotee of
Lord Shiva, the temple is an important shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Situated just 6 km from Tiruchirapalli, the structure houses five huge walls
and seven giant gopurams, constructed in a fine form of Dravidian
architecture.

Situated just 20 km from Trichy, the place has a dam built by King Karikala
Chola in the early 2nd century.

major Indian cities. The railway station is located inside the main city.
By Road : Trichy is connected to rest of south India

stands, the Central Bus Station and Chinthamani Bus Station. Taxis,
