About Tirupati

Tirupati
City is situated in Chittor District, in the southeastern part of Andhra
Pradesh, in Chittoor district. It lies about 152-km northwest of Chennai in
the Palkonda Hills and is best known as the abode of the Hindu god
Venkateshvara. The pilgrimage site hold its importance with Tirupati hill,
located about 10-km northwest of Tirupati. It has been estimated that there
are 31 temples and 7 kundas in the seven hill. History has specified its
importance with ancient temples, which is why the place has become one of
the most popular tourist destination in India. Tirupati Balaji Temple is the

Climate & Best time to Visit
Tirupati holds the tropical climate with high humidity all throughout the
year. The Temperature ranges from 43 degree Celsius in summer to 32 degree

Balaji Temple
Popularly known as the Venkateswara Temple , Balaji temple is one of the
most alluring pilgrimages in the world. It is developed in a typical
Dravidian architectural style and is amongst the ancient temple in the
globe. The temple has the fine carving of the towering Shikara, which can be
traced from from a long distance. The pilgrimage site carries a strange
belief of offering the long shaved hair of men. Devotees believe that their
lingering wishes turns fruitful with offering their hair to the lord. The
temple is taken care by the religious Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanam(TTD)
group of Andra Pradesh.
Padmavati Devi Temple
The Padmavati Devi Temple is one of the must go pilgrimage in Andhra
Pradesh. It is nestled at Tiruchanur, just 5 km from Tirupati, and is
devoted to the consort of Lord Venkateswara, goddess Padmavati. As per the
Hindu mythology, Padmavati was cursed to stay away from her husband and as
such the temple being situated at a large distance from the Balaji temple.
Devotees also believe that Goddess MahaLakshmi herself emerged as Sri
Padmavathi in the 13th year in the last fortnight on the Panchami day.
Govindrajswami Temple
Dedicated to Shri Govindrajswami, the eleder brother of Lord Balaji, this
temple is one of the prominent temples in the pilgrimage town of Tirupati
.It is crafted with exquisite marvels and excellent architecture of ancient
times. The initiative to built the temple was taken by saint Ramanujcharya
in 1130 AD. The aura turns more religious with the annual Brahmotsava
celebrations and the devotees buzzing in and around the temple.
Kapileswarswami Temple
It is situated 3Km in the northern part of Tirupati. The temple is
dedicated to Lord Shiva and his mystical power. The place is most sought
after for its scenic beauty. Devotees are seen to draw themselves into the
holy waterfalls,surrounding the temple. Every year a number of tourist visit
the place and praise the temple at their best.
Kalvana Venkateswarswami Temple
Kalvana Venkateswarswami Temple is situated at Srinivasa Mangapuram, about
12 km from the Tirupati town. Due to its location on the Venkata hill of
Tirupati hill, the diety of Venkataswara in the temple is popularly called
as the Lord of Seventh Hills. The temple has underlying history of
Vijayanagar dynasty. It is believed that this pilgrimage site is the home of
Lord Balaji with his wife goddess Padmavati.

By Air :Tirupati airport is located just 15 km from the
city at Renigunta. Indian Airlines and other private operators provide
regular services between Tirupati and other major Indian cities including
Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. Taxis and buses are easily available to
reach Tirupati from Renigunta. Another nearby international airport at
Chennai facilitates the foreigners to reach the holy spot of Tirupati
By Rail :Tirupati railway station is located in the main
city. Direct trains connect the city with all the major Indian cities
including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Other railway
station at Renigunta (15 Km) and Gudur(100 Km) also serves the purpose.
Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam connects Tirupati with regular overnight trains.
By Road :Tirupati has proper connecting roadways with
other neighboring cities in Andra Pradesh. State transport buses operate
regularly between Tirupati and the rest of south India. Sri Venkateswara bus
