About Ujjain
Situated in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh on the banks of the
holy Shipra river, Ujjain has been one of the most revereed cities for the
followers of Hindu religion. The legendary past of the city describes the
place as one of the four holy Indian cities where nectar drops fell when the
gods and demons were engaged in a fierce battle to gain control over the pot
of nectar, which was retrieved after the churning of the ocean. Housing
numerous temples and other religiously significant spots, Ujjain also hosts
the annual simhastha festival, which is held here every year during the
month of April/May.
Climate & Best time to Visit
The climate in central India remains moderate throughout the year while the
peak summers can be extremely hot and uncomfortable. Monsoons witness a good
amount of rainfall lashing the city. The best time for a visit to Ujjain is
between the months of November and March.

Bade Ganeshji Ka Mandir
The age old temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha is a fine example of the
ancient Indian temple architecture. The walls of the temple are beautifully
adorned with colorful murals of gods and goddesses including scenes from
Hindu epics. The huge idol of Lord Ganesh and the five faced Hanuman are the
major attractions.
Bhartrihari
Caves
The Bhartrihari caves are an important Hindu pilgrimage destination,
believed to be the actual spot where King Bhartrihari sat down for
meditation after denouncing his kingdom and the worldly pleasures.
Bhartrihari was also a great scholar, who contributed a lot for the growth
of Hindi and Sanskrit literature.

Durgadas Cenotaph
The cenotaph of the brave soldier, known as Durgadas Ki Chhatri is a
beautifully built structure that also houses a huge stature of Durgadas in
the centre along with other decorations on the walls. The courageous soldier
is said to have bravely fought for the independence of Jodhpur after the
death of Maharaja Jaswant Singh.
Kaliadeh Palace
The opulent palace is built on a small island and is surrounded by
shimmering water streams on all its sides. A place of immense natural
beauty, the palace is built in a Persian style of architecture and houses
numerous stone structures along with rare objects from the past.

and Bhopal etc.
By Rail : Ujjain has its own railway station which
connects it to all the major Indian cities including Delhi, Mumbai,
Ahmedabad, Bhopal and Gwalior through regular trains.
By Road : A network of well built state and national
highways connect Ujjain with all the other cities in Madhya Pradesh and the
rest of the country. State transport buses as well as private operators run
regular buses between Ujjain and all the neighbouring cities.
