About Vrindavan
Vrindavan, a place of divinity is situated in the north Indian state of
Uttar Pradesh along the banks of river Yamuna. This town is built in the 8th
century A.D and is located at an altitude of 3,133mt above the sea-level.
This pilgrimage center is dedicated to Lord Krishna and is the home to as
many as 4000 Hind temples. The origin of its name 'Vrindavan' carries a
legend of the sacred Tulsi (basil) plant. According to history, the holy
town is named after Vrinda Devi, one of the playmates of Lord Krishna. It

Vrindavan climatic condition ranges from humid summers to cold winters.
Summer temperature is at peak with 45 degrees Celsius while winters are
comfortable with an average of 32 degree Celsius in day-time and 14 degree
Celsius at night. The best time to make a Vrindavan tour is between October

Important Temples in Vrindavan
Rangaji Temple
The Rangaji temple was introduced in the year 1851.Its beauty is the result
of merging Rajput architectural style with South Indian flavor. The entrance
gate and the gateway tower is the perfect example to cite. The most closest
attention lies in the 15 m gold plated pillar in its central enclosure.
Also, sophisticated electronic puppets, adorned with the colorful murals of
gods and goddesses are arranged near the entrance. The puppet shows narrate
the story of the Hindu epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata and provide some
interesting moments to the visitors. Pilgrims are mostly seen in and around
the temple during the Brahmotsava Festival is celebrated in the month
between March-April.
Banke Bihari Temple
Banke Bihari Temple is amongst the famous temple in Vrindavan. It was
established in the year 1864 by Swami Haridas who is learnt of to get an
idol of Lord Banke Bihari in the nearby Nidhivana. The uniqueness of the
temple lies in its surrounding natural forestlands, rivers and enchanting
hilltops. The temple premises is fortuned with the captivating childhood
scenes of the divine couple Radha-Krishna.
ISKCON Temple
Dedicated to Lord Krishna, ISKCON temple is one of the versatile religious
spot of Vrindavan. The temple was built by International Society for Krishna
Consciousness in the year 1966, under the administration of Bhaktivedanta
Swami Prabhupada. The society is famous for organizing various teaching
centers of religious and cultural themes. Another temple of ISKON group is
the Krishna Balarama temple dedicated to Lord Krihna and his elder brother
Balarama.

Yamuna River
A glimpse into the holy river Yammu acts as a soothing balm to the
disturbed schedule of life. The mighty river in India with its several bank
is believed to be the charming land of Lord Krishna. A number of temples and
ashrams are dip-rooted along the banks of the river. Devotees believe the
river is a door to salvation and as such they hanker to spray their soul
with it ,at least once before their death.
Kesari Ghat
Kesari Ghat is one of the pious bank of river Yamuna. It is believed that
the Ghat is the holy place where demon Kesi was killed by Lord Krishna.
Devotees purify themselves by a bath in this bank and also pay homage by
lighting diyas and chanting ritual mantras.

By Air :The nearest airport to Vrindavan is located at a
distance of 50 km in Agra. A number of flight ally the holy Dham to the

and then to the Vrindavan.
By Rail :The railway station at Vrindavan connects it to
