Uttar Pradesh, is nestled in the upper gigantic plains and shares an

Historical Background of Uttar Pradesh
The history of Uttar Pradesh dates back to 4000 years when the Aryans
succeeded the state in the name of 'Madhya Desh'. In the middle of the 1st
millennium BC, the state, under the Magadha rule, marked the religious
advent of Lord Buddha. The Dhamek Stupa in Sarnath honored the observance of
Buddha's first lesson.
In the Medieval period, Uttar Pradesh political scenario called for the
advent of Turko-Afghan Muslim rulers and the state formed various part of
the Indo-Islamic empires. In due course of time, the state witnessed the
dissolution of Mughal empire and the advent of British. Later on, after a

Taj Mahal
Agra proudly boast of the Taj Mahal, built during the period of 1631-48, by
Shah Jahan for his wife Arjuman Banu Begum. Recently tagged as the seven
wonders of the world, this white marble tomb is an excellent example of
Islamic Architecture.
Agra Fort
The magnificent Agra Fort on the bank of river Yamuna, was constructed by
the Emperor Akbar in 1565. The fort depicts the ancient military structure
of India and the union of Islamic rule with Hindu tradition.
Ramnagar Fort
The 17th century Ramnagar fort is the home of the former Maharaja of
Benaras. The fort holds the attractive museum, wherein old silver &
brocade palanquins, gold-plated elephant howdahs, an astrological clock etc
are exhibited systematically.
Vishwanath Temple
Dedicated to the Lord Vishveswara and the powerful Shiva, this sacred
temple was built in 1776 by Rani Ahilyabai of Indore. Interestingly, the
temple tower is bejeweled with 800kg of gold plating, provided by the
Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Lahore.

from 3-4 degree while the summer( March to June) temperature is maximum with
43-45oC . Monsoon showers starts from from March to September and so the

Octobers to March.
