Lotus Temple, Delhi Information
The object of edifices for adoration and place of worship was simply that of unity. Different nations, anomalous races and souls, pleat here and among them benevolence, love, harmony and peace is developed.
Lotus Temple also known as Bahai Temple, is an enthralling structure built in marble, cement, and sand in the exquisite shape of a half-open lotus. Construction on this marvel of splendor started on 21 April in 1980 and got completed in 1986. Lotus temple an architectural paragon of the Bahai faith is open to all religions and faiths and is an ultimate spot for meditation and procuring amity and serenity.

Construction of the Temple
The construction of this majestic edifice has a spherical dome with an aesthetic design of the lotus flower. The interior dome is like a bud containing 27 petals, the light filter through these inner folds and is dispersed throughout the hall. Nine open petals, each of which functions as a skylight, hold the central bud. Petals project outward form marquee over the nine entrances. The nine entrance petals complete the design are contrived in white marble and white concrete.

The external brilliance is compiled to create an impression of lotus structure floating upon water and not clasped to its foundation, by consolidated the glistening light on the petals.

Significance of the Design
The lotus is the mark of pureness, symbolize the Manifestation of God. Its gravity is fiercely rooted in the minds and hearts of the Indians. In the epic, Mahabharata, it is believed that the Creator Brahma came from the lotus that grew out of Lord Vishnu's navel when that deity lay absorbed in meditation.

Lotus is always linked with worship and veneration, and has been a part of the life and thoughts of Indians. Lord Buddha sermonize that one has to be like a lotus, that dilate and lives in dirty water, but its splendor and charm remains unblemished by the environs.

How to Access the Temple?
The Lotus Temple can be approached by hiring a taxi or auto-rickshaws, as it is located at the prime location in Delhi. Delhi Transport Corporation Ltd also runs its buses to the temple.

Information
The Bahai House of Worship is closed every Monday. There are no Admission Charges, therefore entrance is free, and Parking is also free.
Visiting Hours:
Summer (1 April - 30 September) - 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Winter (1 October - 31 March) - 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
